The winter solstice is an astronomical event that marks the shortest day and longest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. It occurs annually around December 21st or 22nd. During the winter solstice, the Earth’s axial tilt is farthest away from the sun, resulting in the least amount of daylight and the longest period of darkness.

It marks the official beginning of winter in the Northern Hemisphere and has an impact on various natural phenomena, such as the migration patterns of animals, the growth of plants, and the overall climate patterns

Celebrate the Winter Solstice through fire and transformation

Raku Ornament Experience

Guests will glaze their own ceramic ornament, which is then placed in a Raku kiln and fired to 1,800°F. Glowing and alive, each piece is lifted from the kiln and placed into another fire, where smoke and flame create its final, unpredictable finish. The ornament emerges transformed — shimmering with metallic hues and natural crackle patterns. Participants will take home their one-of-a-kind creation that evening, a symbol of renewal and light in the darkest night of the year.

$25, available onsite
