Option 4: Westward Ho!

All Westward Ho! activities are led by
Four Mile Staff and Volunteers.

Offered only during the month of May. This award-winning program fills up fast – make your reservations and bus arrangements now.

Six engaging activity stations will help your students appreciate the experience of the 820-mile/6 week pioneer journey across the mid-western and high desert plains.

Prepare for the Journey: See what pioneers packed for their new lives in the West.

Travel the Trail: Walk along-side the horse-drawn prairie schooner like the pioneers and then take a ride.

Setting-up Camp – Children’s Chores: “Hunt” wild buffalo with bean bags, make butter, and grind coffee.

Native American Life: Learn about some of the cultures and people who already inhabited the West.

Gold Panning: Pan for gold just like the 59 ’ers – your students, however, are guaranteed success!

Celebrate: Pioneer Style: Take some time to enjoy music and dance. This is the only chance for you and your students to celebrate while you are “on the trail”.

Other Program Options:

Option 1 - Traveling the Cherokee Trail
Option 2 - Pioneer Sampler
Option 3 - Winter Wonder Days
